본 논문에서는 돌봄이론과 재생산노동 이론 사이의 관계를 해명하고자 한다. 기존의 여러 돌봄이론에서는 돌봄에 내재된 정치경제적 관계들을 해명하기 위해 사회주의 페미니스트들의 가사노동 논쟁, 즉 재생산노동에 대한 서술들을 빌려오곤 한다. 이러한 접근들은 사회주의 페미니즘에서 서술하는 재생산노동 개념이 돌봄 개념과 맺는 중요한 연관성을 잘 포착하고 있지만, 동시에 이 두 개념들 사이의 중요한 차이점을 놓치게 된다는 한계도 함께 갖는다. 나는 사회주의 페미니스트인 낸시 프레이저의 논의를 분석하며 돌봄과 재생산 개념 사이의 연관을 비판적으로 고찰하고, 기존의 재생산 개념이 돌봄을 아우르기 위해 더욱 확장될 필요성이 있음을 주장하는 우에노 치즈코의 논의를 함께 살펴본다. 또한 우에노의 개념적 확장 논의가 철학적으로 보완될 필요가 있음을 결론적으로 지적할 것이다.
Abstract
In this paper, I elucidate the relationship between care theory and reproductive labor theory. Many theories of care draw on socialist feminist accounts of domestic work, or reproductive labor, to scrutinize the political-economic relations embedded in care. While these approaches capture the overlapping features of reproductive labor and care, they tend to overlook distinctions between the two concepts. I will critically examine the connection between care and reproductive work by analyzing the works of socialist feminist Nancy Fraser and Chizuko Ueno.
