대학과정선이수제(AP) 수업 및 제도에 대한 영재학교와 과학고등학교 비교

본 연구에서는 영재학교와 과학고등학교 학교현장에서 이루어지고 있는 AP수업 개설현황을 분석하고, AP수업을 담당하는 교사 147명과 AP수업을 이수한 학생 2,015명을 대상으로 AP수업 및 AP제도에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 2017년 한해동안 영재학교와 과학고에서는 226개의 AP교과목이 개설되었으며, AP 수강인원은 10,840명인 것으로 나타났다. 영재학교 학생들은 평균 4.76개, 과학고 학생들은 3.02개의 AP과목을 이수하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 학교현장에서는 AP수업을 어떻게 인식하는지 살펴보기 위해 교사의 성별, 최종학력, 영재교육경력, 담당과목, 교직경력에 따라서는 AP수업에 대한 인식을 비교분석한 결과 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 학교구분(영재학교와 과학고)과 자격구분(교사와 학생)에 대해서는 AP수업에 대한 인식에서 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. AP수업과 비AP수업과 비교해 볼 때 전체적으로 교사들이 학생들보다, 영재학교가 과학고등학교보다 수업의 차이를 더 크게 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. AP제도의 필요성에 대해서도 영재학교에서 과학고등학교보다는 AP제도의 필요성을 더 높게 인식하고 있었으며, 영재학교의 경우 학생보다는 교사가, 과학고등학교에서는 교사보다는 학생이 AP제도의 필요성을 더 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 교사들은 AP제도가 과학영재들에게 심화교육을 제공하며 특성화대학과의 교육연계에 상당히 도움이 된다고 인식하고 있었다. 본 연구결과는 AP수업 및 AP제도가 학교현장에 안정적으로 정착하기 위해 요구되는 학교별 교육적 요구도와 발전방향을 모색하는데 시사점을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate perceptions of Advanced Placement Classes between gifted and science high schools. Participations of this study were 145 AP teachers and 2015 students, who are taking AP courses from 8 gifted high schools and 19 science high schools. The results showed as follows; First, 226 AP courses were provided in Gifted and Science schools in 2017 and 10,840 students took AP courses. Secondly, there are significant differences in the perception of AP classes between teachers and students and Gifted and Science high schools students. AP classes were more challenging, difficult, and high quality than Non AP classes. Finally, teachers and students of gifted high schools were found to have higher necessity of AP program compared to those of science high schools. However, participants perceived that AP program did not affect high school and university early graduation. Also, implications of the study were discussed in depth based on the results.
