조선 시대 미술영재성의 발달 과정과 교사의 역할에 대한 사례 연구: 김홍도와 강세황을 중심으로

이 연구는 조선 후기 풍속화의 대가로 평가되는 김홍도의 미술 성장 과정과 스승이었던 강세황의 교육적 역할을 탐구한 사례 연구이다. 연구 결과, 김홍도의 미술적 성장 과정은 유년기의 미술영재성의 단계, 청소년기의 미술전문성의 단계, 청년기의 미술탁월성의 단계, 장년기의 미술창의성의 단계로 발달되어 간 것으로 분석된다. 이러한 발달 과정에서 강세황은 유년기 시절 김홍도의 미술영재성을 발견하고 미술을 체계적으로 지도한 교수자이자 김홍도의 새로운 화풍과 독창적 가치를 지지한 비평가, 미술적 전문성이 발휘할 수 있는 장을 마련해준 후원자, 그리고 시서화를 겸비한 삼절 화가의 귀감으로서 역할을 수행한 것으로 확인된다. 이러한 연구 결과는 미술영재에게 있어 교사의 역할이란 교수학습적 측면뿐만 아니라 예술적 동료이자 지지자, 비평가이자 후원자로서의 다면적 측면을 포함함을 시사한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this case study of Kim Hong-do (student) and Kang Se-hwang (teacher) was to explore the teacher’s role in the developmental process concerning art giftedness. The study confirmed that Kim Hong-do's artistic process had developed throughout the stages of artistic giftedness, expertise, excellence, and finally to creativity. During this process, Kang Se-hwang discovered and guided Kim Hong-do's gift, Kang was a critic who supported the value and originality of a new style of painting, a supporter who provided a platform to show his artistic skills, and a role model of Samjeol painter. Despite the past situation of the Joseon Dynasty, these findings suggest that the relationship between a teacher and a gifted art student is more than just a simple teaching-learning relationship. It shows that assuming the role of a teacher also means being an artistic colleague, supporter, critic and role model.
