Abstract

This study attempted to verify whether experiential avoidance and worry have sequential double mediating effects in the relationship between perceived stress and sleep quality. To this end, perceived stress, experiential avoidance, worry, and sleep quality questionnaires were conducted for adults in their 20s and 60s, and sequential double-mediated effects were confirmed through Process Mcro. The results of analyzing the relationship between them are as follows. First, the overall indirect effect of perceived stress on sleep quality was significant. Second, the indirect effect of perceived stress on sleep quality through experiential avoidance was not significant. Third, the indirect effect of perceived stress on sleep quality through worry was significant. Fourth, the indirect effect of perceived stress on sleep quality through experiential avoidance and worry sequentially was significant. Research results suggest that perceived stress leads to an increase in experience avoidance, which leads to an increase in worry, which can lead to a decrease in sleep quality. In the treatment scene, we can propose an intervention to improve sleep problems by focusing on experience avoidance and worry.
