연구 목적: 이 연구는 문화예술교육에 필요한 철학적 담론을 탐구하고 이를 바탕으로 체험과 기능 중심의 문화예술교육에 철학적 토대의 확립 가능성을 살펴보았다. 연구 방법: 고대 그리스부터 현대까지 예술교육에서 중요한 철학적 논쟁들을 검토하였다. 연구 내용: 이상적인 국가에서의 예술교육을 주장한 플라톤의 음악과 체육교육 그리고 실러의 미적 교육을 살펴보고 20세기 교육철학에서 중요한 듀이의 예술교육에 대한 생각을 고찰하였다. 결론 및 제언: 플라톤과 실러는 국가에서 행복한 삶을 위한 예술교육을 탐구하였다. 그리고 듀이의 예술교육은 일종의 지각 훈련 방법으로 설명할 수 있었다. 이 철학자들은 각각 예술교육이 정신과 신체의 조화, 도덕적이고 고귀한 인격, 세계를 이해하는 통찰력을 제공할 수 있다고 생각했다. 따라서 예술교육현장에서 철학을 토대로 한 예술교육이 이루어진다면 예술교육이 철학의 근본적인 질문과 함께 세계와 삶에 대한 이해와 소통으로 확장될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study explored the philosophical discourse necessary for cultural arts education and examined the possibility of establishing a philosophical foundation for cultural arts education centered on experience and skills. From ancient Greece to modern times, important philosophical debates in art education were reviewed. In an ideal country, Plato’s music and physical education, Schiller’s aesthetic education which insisted on art education were examined and Dewey’s thoughts on art education which were important in the 20th century educational philosophy were considered. Plato and Schiller explored art education for a happy life in the nation. Dewey’s art education could be explained as a kind of perceptual training method. Each of these philosophers thought that art education could provide harmony between mind and body, moral and noble character and insight to understand the world. Therefore, if art education based on philosophy is carried out in the art education field, art education can be expanded to understanding and communication about the world and life along with fundamental questions of philosophy.
