연구 목적: 이 연구는 초기 성인기 노동시장 이행과정의 특성, 내적 이질성, 변화 추세를 밝히고자 한다. 연구 방법: 한국노동패널 1~23차 자료와 직업력 자료에서 1971~90년 출생 남녀의 19~29세 취업이력 자료를 구축하고 집단중심추세분석방법을 통해 통계적으로 유형화하였다. 연구 내용: 여성과 남성 각각의 노동시장 이행 과정을 유형화하고 5년 간격 출생코호트로 구분하여 각 출생코호트 간 노동시장 이행 유형 분포의 차이를 통해 최근 출생코호트에서 나타나는 노동시장 진입 유형의 변화를 확인한다. 결론 및 제언: 1971~90년 출생 남녀의 19~29세 노동시장 진입유형은 각각 12개, 10개로 산출되어 초기 성인기 노동시장 이행 궤적의 다양성을 보여주었고 여전히 노동시장 통합 정도가 낮은 집단과 비취업을 지속하는 집단이 최근 증가하거나 높은 비중을 차지하고 있어 코호트별 차이를 볼 수 있었다. 이를 통해 초기 성인기의 노동시장 진입 과정은 매우 다양하므로 평균적인 추세보다는 집단 내 이질성을 파악하고 그 분포를 이해할 필요가 있음을 밝혔다.
Abstract
This study aims to uncover the characteristics, internal heterogeneity, and changing trends of the early adulthood labor market transition process. Using data from the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study from the first to the twenty-third wave, employment histories of men and women aged 19-29 years old born between 1971 and 1990 were constructed and statistically classified using group-based trajectory analysis. Labor market entry types were identified with 12 types for women and 10 types for men, showing the diversity of early adult labor market transition trajectories. The proportion of groups with low degree of labor market integration has recently increased and non-employment group still accounted for high proportion. As labor market entry processes in early adulthood are highly diverse, it is important to understand the heterogeneity within groups and their distribution, rather than focusing solely on average trends.
