한국어교육 석사과정에 참여한 성인학습자의 학습경험에 관한 연구

본 연구는 한국어교육 석사과정에 참여한 퇴직준비 교원의 학습경험을 분석하여, 한국어교원 자격 취득 과정이 성인학습자의 퇴직준비교육으로 어떠한 의미를 지니는지를 살피는 것을 목적으로 질적 사례연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해, 한국어교육 석사과정에 참여한 퇴직준비 교원 4명의 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집하여, 성인학습자의 학습참여동기 및 학습경험의 의미를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, ‘국내 이주민을 위한 교육 경험 선순환 시키기’, ‘해외 교육봉사를 위한 한국어 날개 달기’라는 2개의 하위주제와 ‘퇴직준비 교원의 꿈: 한국어교육 전문가로 다시 태어나기’라는 1개의 상위주제를 도출하였다. 이는 한국어교육 전공을 통한 한국어교원 자격 취득 과정이 성인학습자에게 한국어교육 전문가로 거듭날 수 있도록 하는 퇴직준비교육으로서의 의미를 제시하였다는 데 의의가 있다. 연구를 통해, 퇴직준비 교원이 퇴직 이후 학교 밖 사회에서도 자신의 교육경력을 지속적으로 연계하여 우리 사회에 선한 영향력을 미칠 수 있도록 하는 다양한 퇴직준비교육 프로그램의 개발이 필요할 것으로 보인다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the learning experiences of teachers preparing for retirement who participated in the master’s course in Korean language education, and to examine the meaning of the process of acquiring Korean language teacher qualifications as retirement preparation education for adult learners. For this purpose, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 4 teachers preparing for retirement who participated in the master’s course in Korean language education, and the motivation for learning participation of adult learners and the meaning of learning experiences were analyzed. As a result of the study, two sub-themes were derived: ‘Creating a virtuous cycle of educational experience for domestic immigrants’ and ‘Putting on Korean wings for overseas educational service’, one super-theme was derived, ‘A teacher’s dream of preparing for retirement: to be reborn as a Korean language education expert.’ This is significant in that the process of acquiring Korean language teacher qualifications through the Korean language education major presented a meaning as a retirement preparation education that enables adult learners to be reborn as experts in Korean language education. Through research, it seems necessary to develop various retirement preparation education programs so that retirement preparation teachers can have a good influence on our society by continuously linking their educational careers even outside of school after retirement.
