CAT을 접목한 통번역대학원 전문번역수업에 대한 학습자 반응 연구: 정치법률번역 과목을 중심으로

연구 목적: 이 연구는 통번역대학원 전문번역 수업에 컴퓨터보조번역도구 활용을 접목하여 수업하고 학습자 반응을 조사하였다. 연구 방법: 정치법률번역 수업의 첫 2~3주 간 CAT툴의 활용법을 교육한 후, 학습자들이 매주 제시되는 과제를 CAT툴을 활용하여 번역하도록 하였다. 학기 말 설문조사를 통해 CAT툴 활용을 접목한 전문번역 수업에 대한 의견을 설문조사하였다. 연구 내용: 연구 결과 본 연구의 학습자들은 CAT툴 활용이 번역 자료의 효율적인 관리에 유용하고 향후에도 계속 사용할 의사가 있다고 밝혔다. 하지만 툴 사용 미숙과 축적된 충분한 언어데이터 부족이 문제점으로 지적되었다. 결론 및 제언: 이러한 문제의 해결을 위해 단기간 내 언어자산 축적과 잦은 툴 사용을 유도하기 위한 팀프로젝트 등의 공동작업을 수업에 포함할 수 있다.
Abstract
This study reports graduate student responses to a specialized translation class where the leaners were required to use a CAT tool, and collected student responses. The research method and details are as follows: The students of a Political Legal Translation class were taught how to use a CAT tool and required to translate weekly assignments throughout the semester. At the end of the semester, the students were surveyed. The subjects of this study admitted that the CAT tool was useful in effective management of translation projects and language assets, and they were willing to keep using the tool. However, they experienced difficulties as they were not fully accustomed to the tool use and did not have enough language data to utilize. In future classes, these challenges could be addressed by including team projects where the learners work together to search for bilingual legal texts and convert them into language data to be used in classes. It would expedite accumulation of language assets and encourage students to help each other in learning how to use a CAT tool.
