Abstract

The Three Kingdoms Period of Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla was the starting point of Korean calligraphy. Among them, Goguryeo accepted the Chinese characters relatively early in its negotiations with China and combined the aesthetic views of its people to form a calligraphy style with its own style. Goguryeo, as a powerful country in Northeast Asia, played a role as a regional cultural hub, affecting Silla, Baekje, and Japanese calligraphy. Even after its collapse, the western winds of Goguryeo still partially continued in the Unified Silla Period and Japan. The nobility and their descendants, who entered the Tang Dynasty, still worshipped the ‘Guyang Sun style calligraphy’,  Most of the epitaph were composed of Guyang Sun style calligraphy. Studying the external negotiation of Goguryeo calligraphy is the starting point of Korean calligraphy, as well as the basic work of Korean calligraphy research. Furthermore, it would be worthwhile to conduct various studies on the foreign negotiations of Goguryeo based on this.
