본 연구는 최근 발표된 『2014년 북한의 사회경제, 인구, 건강조사』에 나타난 인구 자료와 기존의 북한 인구일제조사 자료(1993년, 2008년)를 비교하여, 1993년 이후 북한 인구구조의 변화추이를 평가하는 데 중점을 두었다. 1993년 이후 북한의 사회경제적 여건은 여러 측면에서 급변했다. 식량난의 충격을 겪은 후 회복되었으며, 공식부문과 비공식부문으로의 이원화가 진전되었고, 2010년 이후에는 북중무역 확대로 인해 대중의존도가 높아졌다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 사회경제적 변화가 북한인구의 도농별 분포, 도별 분포, 연령별 분포 등 인구구조에 미친 영향 등을 평가하고자 한다.
Abstract
This paper examines the recent demographic change of DPRK based on “the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Socio-Economic, Demographic and Health Survey 2014”. The survey has been conducted by the DPRK with the technical assistance from United Nations Population Funds and provides the overall status of the population, fertility and mortality, economic activities in DPRK. This paper focuses on how the social and economic characteristics of population in DPRK has changed since the 1990s using the Population Census of 1993 and 2008 as well as the 2014 survey. The recent demographic structure appears to be recovered from the economic shock in the 1990’s. The urban population’s share has increased slightly since 2008 and the overall life expectancies has bouncing back to where it was in 1993.
