문집번역과 관련한 최근의 화두는 그 큰 관심이 학술번역의 방향으로 쏠리고 있다. 학술번역을 지향할 때 반드시 요구되는 것이 底本 및 異本 고찰과 관련한 고민이다. 이 문제는 텍스트 비평과도 관련되는 중요한 문제이다. 하지만 그간 번역 담론에서 이 문제는 곧잘 간과되곤 했다. 본고는 이러한 문제의식 아래 이본 검토와 대조의 방법을 시도한 기왕의 번역서와 정본화 작업 등 선행 성과들을 검토하여 異本의 수집, 底本의 선정, 校勘整理本의 작성 등과 관련한 제반 문제와 필요성의 이유를 짚어보았다. 특히 校勘整理本 작성을 위해 오탈자의 교감, 산삭과 변개의 고증, 작품의 진위와 표절 검증 등을 심층 고찰하였다. 『朝鮮史』가 정리되지 않고 『實錄』으로만 남아 조선의 학술과 문예가 經籍志와 藝文志로 정리되지 않은 지금의 상황으로서는 문집 번역이 국고 문헌인 사료 번역보다 중요성이 덜하지 않다. 하지만 둘의 번역 방법은 같을 수 없다. 편찬 목적이 다르고, 정보 전달 방식 곧 문헌의 체제와 문장상의 修辭 방식이 다르기 때문이다. 문집은 해당 작품의 번역은 물론이고 그 정보의 所從來, 해당 작품이 지어진 시점 및 그에 따른 정치적 脈絡과 시대적 含意에 이르기까지 다양한 층위의 附加 情報를 찾아 제공해줄 때 비로소 생명력을 지니고 온전한 가치를 발휘한다. 이본 검토가 반드시 요구되는 이유이다.
Abstract
The recent talk about translating of collection of literary works is academic translation. What is important in scholarly translation is the consideration of original text and different versions. This is an important question that also relates to text criticism. But this problem was often overlooked. Under the consciousness of this problem, this study examined the preceding achievements such as existing translations and textualization. And this study pointed out the problems and necessity related to the collection of different versions, the selection of the original text, comparative study. Especially, the for comparative study, this study compared several books of the same kind and straightens out the differences and examined in depth the confirmation of the cutting and turning, the authenticity of the work and the proof of plagiarism. Currently, the 『Joseonsa』 is not arranged and remains only as 『Sillok』. As for the current situation, translating of collection of literary works is not less important than the translation of the official documents. However, the translation methods do not need to be the same. This is because the purpose of compilation is different, and the way in which information is conveyed is different between the system of literature and the method of investigation of sentences. The literary works should provide not only the translation of the work, but also the information on the various stages of the work, such as when the work was created, its political context and its historical implications. In such a case, the literary house will have vitality and full value. This is why examination of different versions. is required.
