『擇里志』 異本의 계통에 대한 補論

이 글은 『擇里志』의 이본 가운데 유사한 체재와 내용으로 구성된 이본들의 여러 계통을 제시하였다. 그동안 『완역 정본 택리지』의 출간과 더불어 『택리지』의 성립 과정과 이본의 계통에 관한 유의미한 연구 결과들이 도출됨에 따라 『택리지』의 텍스트 구조를 새롭게 이해할 수 있게 되었다. 실제로 『택리지』는 이본마다 크고 작은 차이를 보이는데, 그 안에서 공통점이 발견되는 이본들이 적지 않다. 따라서 선행 연구에서 정립한 초고본 계통, 개정본 계통, 『동국산수록』 계통에 더하여 몇 가지 계통을 추가로 설정할 수 있다. 논문에서는 먼저 이본의 계통을 판별하는 주요한 기준으로 ① 序跋의 수록 현황, ② 「팔도론」 ‘평안도’와 ‘함경도’ 및 ‘충청도’와 ‘경기도’ 사이의 行文, ③ 「팔도론」 ‘함경도’에서 함흥차사 전설의 삽입 여부, ④ 「서론」과 「결론」의 유무와 수록 위치, ⑤ 「팔도론 서설」의 시작 부분, ⑥ 「팔도론」과 「복거론」 항목의 배치 순서, ⑦ 「복거론」 ‘지리’ㆍ‘생리’ㆍ‘인심’ㆍ‘산수’의 시작 부분 등을 제시하였다. 이와 같은 기준에 따라 190여 종의 이본을 종합적으로 분석한 결과, 『동국산수록』의 편집 방식을 채택하되 독자적으로 편목을 설정하여 정리한 ‘紅荳山人鈔’ 계통, 내용을 대폭 축약하면서 「복거론」을 산수-지리-생리-인심 순으로 재편집한 『靑華山人八域誌』 계통, 「복거론」의 위치를 재편성하고 「서론」과 「결론」을 통합하여 맨 뒤에 배치한 『卜居說』 계통, 「서론」과 「결론」을 통합하여 첫머리에 수록하고 말미에 「當難保身福地(出十勝地秘訣)」를 추가한 ‘十勝地’ 계통의 네 가지 계통으로 나누어 주요 특징을 밝혔다. 이상의 논의는 여러 선행 연구를 비평하고 보완하는 작업으로서 『택리지』 이본의 복잡한 구조와 분화된 양상을 이해하는 데 일조할 수 있다.
Abstract
This study presents several text groups of the same format and content among Taengniji(擇里志) variants. Up to date, with the publication of 'Complete translation of Taengniji', significant study results on the process of establishing Taengniji and the group of variants were drawn, allowing us to newly understand the text structure of Taengniji. Actually, Taengniji shows a big and small difference between each of the variants, and there are many of them that have something in common. Therefore, in addition to an original group, a revised group, and a Dongguksansurok group established in the previous studies, several additional groups can be set. In the study, first of all, the main criteria for determining the group of variants are provided as following: ① whether or not the prologue and epilogue is included, ② sentences of between 'Pyeongan- do' and 'Hamgyeong-do' and between 'Chungcheong- do' and 'Gyeonggi- do' in Discourse on the Eight Province, ③ insertion of the Hamheung chasa legend in 'Hamgyeong-do', ④ presence of introduction and conclusion, and their location, ⑤ the beginning part of Discourse on the Eight Province introduction, ⑥ arrangement order of Discourse on the Eight Province and Discourse on the Selection of Habitable Places, and ⑦ the beginning part of 'geography', 'physiology', 'human mind' and 'scenery' in Discourse on the Selection of Habitable Places. As a result of comprehensive analysis of 190 types of variants based on the above criteria, the groups are divided into four then the major characteristics of each group were clarified-the Hongdusanincho(紅荳山人鈔) group that adopted editing method of Dongguksansurok (東國山水錄) but the contents were set independently, the Cheonghwasaninpalyeokji (靑華山人八域誌) group that re-edited Discourse on the Selection of Habitable Places in the order of 'scenery', 'geography', 'physiology' and 'human mind' with contracting the contents greatly, the Bokgeoseol (卜居說) group that relocated Discourse on the Selection of Habitable Places, while introduction and conclusion were included as a combined format at the end, and the Sipseungji (十勝地) group that introduction and conclusion were included in the beginning as a combined format while Sipseungji was attached at the end. The discussion above will be able to contribute to understanding the complex structure and differentiated aspects of Taengniji variants, as a work that criticizes and complements several previous studies.
