Abstract
This report shows various results of semen test and DNA analysis through 17 cases of noticeable sexual crimes requested from Daegu city and Gyeongbuk region during ten months. SM and PSA tests were performed to identify semen in forensic samples, and DNA profiling was performed by A-STR (AmpFlSTR Identifiler Plus kit) and Y-STR (PowerPlex®Y23 kit) analysis. Applying to forensic samples, in some cases(15 out of 48) the result of SM and PSA test was different from each other. Furthermore, many samples(36 out of 44) related sexual crimes had positive results in Y-STR analysis even when A-STR analysis detected only female profile. Through these results, we suggest that using both SM and PSA test and performing YSTR analysis is an essential process to obtain accurate interpretation in sexual crime samples.
