개성공단 활성화를 위한 남북물류의 효율적 운영방안에 관한 연구

Abstract

South-North economic cooperation was initiated with simple trade activities such as processing trades on commission, governmental investments of South Korea and transactions between South and North Korea. These days, the simple trade activities between the two Koreas are however becoming more and more diverse and common. South and North Korea have agreed to begin building the first joint industrial park in the communist North and to set up an inter-Korean trade office in Kaesong during the first half of 2004. After constructing the promising special economic zone, South Korean businesses were invited to set up factories and South Korean branches there. In fact, it is pervasively believed that the Kaesong industrial complex will be a starting point of linking the Trans-Korean Railway (TKR) and the Trans-Siberian Railway Disappointingly, in spite of the potential benefits from the industrial, the reality is that there are many logistics problems with the area. Future Kaesong development plans call for companies in the park focusing on the logistics matters. The two Korean governments must understand that the success of the park does have close relationship with the companies business successes in the Kaesong Area. It is also remembered that the success of the industrial park is associated with the efficient logistics management of the firms in Kasong Area. It is imperative that we learn a lesson from past failures to develop the industrial park in Najin and Sunbong.
