한국과 대만은 대외 무역의 상황과 지정학적 위치, 그리고 국민경제적 상황 등 매우 유사한 해운환경을 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 1990년부터 2003년까지의 한국과 대만의 산업연관분석을 통해 해상운송부문이 각국의 경제에 미치는 영향을 물가파급효과와 전후방 연쇄효과 측면에서 고찰하고, 해운부문의 전후방연쇄효과를 통해 앞으로의 해운이 나아가야 할 방향을 모색해 보았다. 상기의 분석 과정에서 해상운송부문을 외생화시켜 순수파급효과를 측정한 결과 해상운송부문이 두 나라의 경제에 영향을 미치는 정도는 유사하며, 해상운송부문과 전체 산업군을 비교해 볼 때, 해상운송부문이 경제에 미치는 영향이 더욱 크다는 것이 밝혀졌다.
Abstract
The international trade of Korea and Taiwan has been dependent upon international water transportation. This paper aims to conduct a comparative study on the economic impacts of water transport upon the Korean and Taiwanese economies for the period of 1990-2003 using input-output analysis. The economic impacts consist of backward and forward linkage effects, production induction effects, so that this study tries to present a preliminary indication of the role of the water transportation industry. In doing so, this study creates an exogenous variable of the water transport industry to investigate its economic effects in detail. The data for this comparison research are collected from the Bank of Korea database for the Input-Output structure of the Korea economy and the database of Directorate- General of Budget Accounting and Statistics, Executive Yuan, Taiwan. The results of this research help policy-makers of the two countries identify the economic role of the water transport industry and design effective policy for sustainable economic growth in the globalized economy.
