Abstract

As globalization and blocking of economy are progressed, firms' management strategy changes puts more emphasis on the high value added international logistics system which gives weight to its speed and value added service. Global product network is expanded by both the internationalization and the diversification of multimodal transportation system, thereby low cost product cluster is being formed at sea- and airport areas in low cost and high efficiency countries. To build low cost network and manufacture nodes, global supply chain management should be established, therefore, it has a trend that logistics nodes, R&D nodes and manufacture nodes are being formed around major sea port or airport. Normally, determining location of logistics center within international logistics network is recognized to be difficult to have many factors to consider as well as to matter with regards to upper managerial strategy. When it comes to location of logistics center, decision making is hard on account of variety of variants for decision influencing on industrial economic and social cultural aspect. The most common variable amongst determining variants is total cost optimization. So, many previous researches or studies suggested module development was performed for consistency and efficiency of calculation and solution development focused on associated cost minimization. Particularly, competition in securing logistics center of global firms is accelerated as economy and scale of trade are expanded at Northeast Asia and efficient logistics network establishment is distinguished to be the core of administration. Global manufacturing and procurement network expansion are mainly based in Northeast Asia, which are South Korea, China, and Japan. Three countries are geographically close and have large demand market and determination for logistics center location is the main variant for determining supply chain. The position and the function of logistics center are building up when it comes to increasing or decreasing added value as a core. The role and the function especially emphasizes on the weight of added value. In particular, it is rare to perform systematical studies on concrete location of logistics center although international logistics centers play a great deal of role on northeast Asia. This study attempts to suggest location determinants of International logistics center. First, it analyzes the factors determining location of International logistics center. Second, Use the selected location factors in order to analyze the determinants of international logistics centers located factor analysis was conducted. Third, this estimates the significance of hierarchical structure of logistics center location through Analytic hierarchy process with previously drawn variables. Last, this study suggests implications with the importance of the location determinants obtained through AHP(analytic hierarchy process) analysis.
