경찰의 직무스트레스가 일탈태도에 미치는 영향

초록

경찰은 높은 도덕성을 요구하는 직업이며, 공정함과 신뢰성을 바탕으로 국민을 보호하는 형사사법 기관이다. 그러나 청렴도를 위한 경찰조직의 시도와 변화에도 불구하고 경찰의 범죄율은 매해 늘고 있으며 경찰에 대한 국민의 신뢰도는 매년 낮아지고 있는 것이 현실이다. 따라서 본 연구는 경찰공무원의 일탈행위에 대한 적절한 통제방안을 제시하기 위하여 경찰의 일탈태도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대하여 선행연구를 검토한 후 불법행위에 대한 태도 및 뇌물수수태도를 종속변수로 설정하였고, 직무스트레스를 독립변수로 설정하여 서울 지역에 위치한 경찰서를 대상으로 설문조사를 한 후 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 직무스트레스가 불법행위에 대한 태도 및 뇌물수수태도에 유의한 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 직무스트레스 수준이 높을수록 일탈적 태도에 대하여 관대해지므로 일탈의 가능성이 높아 질 수 있다는 것이다. 따라서 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 직무스트레스를 완화하여 일탈태도를 통제하기 위한 조직적 대체방안을 제시하였다.

Abstract

The police is a profession that requires high morality. Also, it is a criminal justice institution that protects the people based on fairness and reliability. However, despite the effort of police organization’s attempts and changes for integrity, the crime rate of police officer is increasing every year. Also, the reliability of public on police is decreasing every year. Therefore, this study examines the factors leads to police deviance behavior using job stress to help the policy of police deviance control system. In this study, attitude on bribery and acceptable attitude on illegal behavior was set as a dependent variables and job stress as independent variables by reviewing the relevant precedent studies. Also, this study conducted regression analysis based on the survey of 300 police officers located in two police station in Seoul. According to the analysis, there was direct relationship between police’s job stress and police deviance. In other words, police’s job stress was significantly related to the attitude on bribery and acceptable attitude on illegal behavior. This means that when the police officer suffers from job stress, the attitude on bribery and acceptable attitude on illegal behavior also increased. Therefore, this results can be interpreted that police’s job stress from organization has possibility of increasing the police deviance. To, control the police deviance, police organization needs to make effort to reduce the police officer’s job stress by decreasing the stress factors related their job. Also, employing professional counselor will be one of the method to relieve the police officer’s job stress which leads the police deviance.
