자녀 범죄두려움의 설명모델 비교연구

초록

개인에 관한 범죄두려움의 연구는 범죄학 연구에서 경험적 연구가 꾸준히 이어지고 있다. 하지만, 이타적 범죄두려움은 여전히 학문적 공백이 존재한다. 이 연구는 이타적 범죄두려움 중 특히 자녀 범죄두려움 요인을 가장 잘 설명하는 이론적 설명모델을 찾는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위하여 범죄피해경험, 범죄취약성, 지역무질서, 사회통합, 경찰신뢰 등 다섯 가지 모델을 비교·분석하였다. 연구 데이터는 한국형사·법무정책연구원의 전국범죄피해조사2018 자료 중 자녀가 있다고 응답한 표본 9,082개를 추출한 것을 활용하였다. 연구결과, 자녀 범죄두려움을 설명하는데 있어 범죄피해경험, 범죄취약성, 지역무질서, 사회통합 그리고 경찰신뢰 모델 모두 통계적으로 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 이 중 설명력이 가장 큰 모델은 범죄취약성이었으며, 설명력이 가장 작은 것은 경찰신뢰였다. 이 연구는 자녀 범죄두려움의 설명 모델의 영향력을 비교·검증하여 자녀 범죄두려움에 가장 많은 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

Abstract

Fear for others as distinct from personal fear is an understudied phenomenon in Korea. This article attempts to compare and analyze the effects of fear of crime explanatory models such as the crime victim model, criminal vulnerability model, disorder model, social integration model, and confidence in police model for explaining parental fear of crime. Therefore this study will be understanding an appropriate explanatory model for parental fear of crime in our society. Using the Korea Institute of Criminology and Justice’s ‘Korean Crime Victim Survey in 2018’, multiple regression analysis was conducted on 9,082 parents. Results indicate that five explanatory models are suitable for explaining parental fear of crime in Korea. The model which best explains parental fear of crime was the criminal vulnerability model. The model which least explains parental fear of crime was the confidence in police model. The implications and limitations of the study are discussed.
