범죄두려움이 만연해있고 대부분의 사람들이 범죄두려움으로부터 자유로울수 없다면 적절한 수준의 범죄두려움은 긍정적인 효과를 가져오는 경우도 있지 않을까 하는 질문을 던져볼 수 있다. 이 연구는 이런 의문을 가지고 범죄두려움이 가지는 긍정적인 효과에 대해 상호작용 분석을 통해 경험적 검증을 시도해보고자 한다. 이 연구에서는 범죄유발요인과 범죄대처 행동의 관계에서 범죄두려움과 성별이 어떤 상호작용 효과를 보이는지 분석한다. 연구결과를 범죄두려움과 성별의 상호작용 효과를 중심으로 정리하면 다음과 같다. 먼저 범죄대처 행동에 대한 범죄두려움과 독립변수의 상호작용 효과에서는 집합효율성이 유의미한 관계를 보였다. 자기 두려움, 파트너 두려움, 자녀 두려움 모두에서 두려움 수준이 보통인 집단과, 높은 집단이 유의미한 기울기의 차이를 보였으며, 두려움이 높은 집단이 보통인 집단보다 범죄대처행동을 적극적으로 한다는 것이다. 그렇다면 각각의 개인이 가진 다른 수준의 범죄두려움을 활용하는 정책을 실시하는 것도 중요하게 다루어져야 할 것이다. 대책을 수립함에 있어서 투자할 수 있는 예산과 에너지가 한정적임을 고려한다면 이처럼 좀 더 높은 효과를 산출할 수 있는 대상을 목표로 한다면 정책의 효율성을 제고할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
If fear of crime is prevalent and most people admit that they cannot be free from it, we may wonder if there will also be a positive effect of fear of crime at an appropriate level. In this study, in order to find an answer to these questions, we would like to verify the positive effects of fear of crime through interaction analysis. Research analysis aims to examine how fear of crime and gender interact in the relationship between crime-cause factors and crime prevention behavior. The results of the study are summarized as follows, focusing on the interaction effect between fear of crime and gender. First, collective efficiency showed statistically significant results in the interaction effect between fear of crime and independent variables on crime prevention behavior. Next, iin both self-fear and altruistic fear, the group with the average level of fear and the group with the high level of fear showed a statistically significant difference in slope. In other words, the group with high fear is more active in crime prevention than the average group. Therefore, it is necessary to seriously consider reflecting the different levels of fear of crime that individuals have in their policies.
