해방기 단편소설에 나타난 미국 대중문화 양상 연구

본고는 해방기 소설 가운데 채만식의 「미스터 방」(1946), 이태준의 「해방전후」(1946), 염상섭의 「양과자갑」(1947)을 연구 대상으로 하여, 해방기 미국 문화․자본 양상을 고찰하고자 한다. 이 소설들은 해방기 한국 문단의 판도를 조감하는 토대가 될 뿐 아니라, 해방기 미국에 의한 한국의 피식민 사회구조와 상황을 예시하고 있으므로 연구에 적정하다 할 수 있다. 또한 해방 후 미국에 의한 사상적․문화적 조류에 휩쓸리는 군상들의 혼란한 모습과 미군정의 등장으로 이어지는 신식민지적 사회를 표상하므로 연구 목적에 부합한다고 볼 수 있다. 한편 이 소설들은 해방기 미국의 후기식민성에 의한 사회․정치․문화 등 전반적인 지배와 관련한 역사적․사회적 관점을 적시하고 있다. 더불어 한국의 신식민지적 정체성에 관한 현실 문제를 서사화하고 있는 것으로, 본 연구의 중심 역할을 담당할 것으로 본다. 따라서 본고는 해방기 한국 단편소설 분석을 통해, 해방 이후 미국의 문화 유입 양상을 점검하고, 이를 토대로 신식민지 현실을 각층으로 하는 해방기 단편소설에 나타난 탈식민주의 경향에 대해 탐색하고자 한다. 이와 더불어 해방기 채만식의 「미스터 방」, 이태준의 「해방전후」, 염상섭의 「양과자갑」 소설의 탈식민주의 경향이 한국 현대문학사에 차지하는 문학적 위치와 성과를 검토해보고자 한다.
Abstract
This study searches the phase of American culture and capital, which includes "Mr Bang", Chae Man-Sik, "Haebang Jeonhu(Before and after Liberation)", Lee Tae-Joon, "Yanggwazagap(Pack of Western-style cakes)", Yeum Sang-Seop. These novels are suitable for study because those are not only the basis of understanding the stream of Korean literature but also demonstrate the system and situation the colonized Korea. In addition, These novels are suitable for study because those express the chaotic appearance of people swept away by the stream of thought and culture by America, and neocolonial society which results in American rule. In the meantime, these novels expose the historical social viewpoint, which is in connection with general rule by American imperialism ; society, politics and culture. Besides, this study describes actual problems about neocolonial identity in Korea. Accordingly, this study examines the phase of influx of American culture, and searches the tendency of post-colony came out in short stories. Moreover, This study aims to examine the literary position and result that the neocolonial tendency of "Mr Bang", Chae Man-Sik, "Haebang Jeonhu(Before and after Liberation)", Lee Tae-Joon, "Yanggwazagap(Pack of Western-style cakes)", Yeum Sang-Seop, are placed in the history of Korean modern literature
