Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the creative process and students' design outcomes of product & furniture designs inspired by architects and their works, with a specific focus on us- ing the works of Richard Rogers as motifs. The research found that: Architectural motifs pro- vide effective inspiration for product & furniture design. Various elements of architecture, such as structure, form, color and material, can offer unique ideas for other design domain and help maintain design consistency. Individual design interpretations lead to diverse outcomes. Even when using the same architectural motif, students produced different designs based on their in- dividual design preferences and a focus of observation. This highlights the importance of crea- tivity in the design process. Potential for design education. Design projects inspired by architec- tural motifs can enhance students' design thinking, foster the ability to integrate knowledge from various design fields, and promote a deeper understanding of the relationship between archi- tecture and design. The direction of future research is as follows. Exploring various architects: Expand the research to include works by different architects to derive more generalized process and results. Increasing design participants: Conduct the design project with a larger number of participants to ensure statistical significance. Quantitative analysis: Employ quantitative analysis methods, such as surveys, to measure students' design satisfaction, difficulties, and other rele- vant factors. Subdividing design elements: Further subdivide the common elements of archi- tecture and product & furniture design for more systematic research. Therefore, this study sug- gests that the fusion of architecture and design can open up new possibilities in design domain and contribute to the advancement of design practical education.
