Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the latent profile of elementary school students' self-determination motivation and to examine the differences in prosocial behavior, friend support, class participation, and class departure according to the latent profile. Method: The results of the analysis of 297 elementary school seniors (144 men and 153 women) were as follows. Results: First, as a result of the self-determination motivation latent profile analysis, 'autonomous motivation' with the highest levels of identified and intrinsic regulation, 'controlled motivation' with the highest levels of external and introjected regulation, and 'low motivation' with overall low motivation were identified. Second, the 'autonomus motivation' had higher levels of class participation, prosocial behavior, and friend support than the 'low motivation', 'controlled motivation', and had the lowest class dropout. The 'low motivation' had the lowest levels of class participation, class departure, prosocial behavior, and friend support. However, friend support and class departure did not show a significant difference from the 'controlled motivation'. Conclusion: This study is meaningful in that it provides educational practical meaning by predicting school life adaptation according to the form of self-determination motivation by confirming the difference in class participation and departure from class according to the potential profile of elementary school students.
