Abstract

The Expatiation of The Great Political Law is a book of politics compiled by Yi, Hwi-il and YI, Hyun-il. It aimed specifically at overcoming the defeat of the Second Manchu invasion, and rebuilding Confucian state. It was is well worth appreciating highly, in terms of one of the first books to be focused on specific action plan. The editors noted in the The Great Political Law, because it's nine categories include everything that politicians have to be considered. In their view, Politics is an act to present rules of conduct which we ought to do, it should start with the establishment of king's standard. Based on this, this book presented concrete political actions, that is, the idea of the assurance of people's economic lives and moral education, the maintenance of law and penal system, the completion of the national defense, etc. But it had limitation to be fixed in Neo-Confucianism mentality, so it can be defined as a work just prior to the Practical Learning in the late Choseon Dynasty.
