Abstract

The purpose of this study is to introduce 14 volumes of <Naebanggasa of Ryu Chang-seok’s families, Jeonju-ryu clan> which were donated to the Korean Studies Advancement Center, and to examine the notational system and phonological characteristics reflected in these manuscripts from the perspective of Korean linguistics. Naebang-gasa is a literary genre that has been created and passed on by women in the Yeongnam districts since the middle of the Joseon Dynasty, and it has received much attention from the classical literature researchers but not actually from the Korean linguists. The manuscript Naebanggasa which features both the oral literature and the documentary literature is rich in materials to research into. There should be further discussion on the issue determining when it was actually transcribed, but I think that it satisfies the required conditions for Korean linguistic research data in that it reflects the actual language life of the period. <Naebang-gasa of Ryu Chang-seok’s families, Jeonju–Ryu clan> which was closely examined in this study, it was transcribed 20th century and reflects the Korean linguistic characteristics found in the modern Korean language and the literature of the Korean language during the enlightenment period. It is full of the elements of Gyeongbuk dialects in Korean Linguistics.
