『정재집』의 참여 각수와 간행 경비

책판에는 책에서는 확인할 수 없는 다양하고 중요한 정보가 들어 있는데 각수에 대한 기록도 그 중 하나이다. 2015년 유네스코 세계기록유산에 등재된 한국국학진흥원 소장 64,226판의 유교책판은 약 20% 정도에 각수의 이름이 기록되어 있다. 그 중 1884년에 간행된 36권 분량의 『정재집』책판은 남아있는 대부분의 책판에 각수 이름이 확인된다. 또한, 책판과 함께 전해지는 문헌 자료에는 판각에 참여한 각수의 이름과 각수의 임무가 수록되어 있어 책판과 비교해 실제로 참여한 각수의 상황과 판각 활동을 확인할 수 있다. 본고에서는 『정재집』의 판각에 참여했던 각수의 판각 분량과 판각의 특징, 『정재집』참여 각수의 타 문헌 판각 활동 등을 조사하고, 아울러 『정재집』의 판각 비용과 간행 경비에 대해서 살펴보았다. 『정재집』의 판각에 참여한 각수는 44명이었으며 각수의 총 책임자인 전기원은 안동 묵계에 거주하면서 농사일을 병행하였다. 그의 아버지는 정서본을 수령하거나 완성된 책판을 납품하고 판각비를 수령하는 등 아들의 활동과 관련되는 여러 가지 일을 보조하였다. 각수 44념ㅇ의 판각 분량은 일정하지 않았으며, 적게는 1판에서부터 많게는 50판까지 판각하였다. 평균적으로는 약 15판 가량을 판각하였다. 각수 중 13명은 비슷한 시기에 전주류씨 수곡파의 저술 문집과 안동 및 인근 지역의 여러 문헌의 판각에 참여하였다. 『정재집』의 간행을 위한 경비는 2,800~3,800냥 정도 들었을 것으로 추정되며, 안동을 중심으로 한 서원과 서당, 전주류씨 수곡파 문중, 안동 및 영남 각 지역의 문중이나 개인 등 178곳에서 691.5냥의 간행 경비를 분담하였다.
Abstract
The woodblock contains a variety of important information that cannot be found in book, and records about the engraver are one of them. In 2015, 64,226 Confucian Printing Woodblocks in Korea were registered in the UNESCO Memory of the World. About 20% of these woodblocks contain the name of the engraver. Among them, on the woodblock of the 36-volume Jeongjaejip (定齋集) published in 1884, the names of engraver are identified on most of woodblocks. The literature data delivered with the woodblocks contain the names of the people who participated in the engraving and the duties of the engraver. In addition, the literary materials handed down together with the woodblocks include the names of the engravers who participated in the engraving and their duties, so by comparing them to the woodblocks, we can confirm the actual situation of the engravers who participated in the Jeongjaejip and their engraving activities. In this paper, we investigated the amount of engraving of engraver who participated in the engraving of the Jeongjaejip, the characteristics of the engraving, and other literature engraving activities of engraver who participated in the Jeongjaejip. In addition, the engraving cost and publication cost of the Jeongjaejip were examined. The number of members who participated in the engraving of the Jeongjaejip was 44, and Jeon Ki-won (⽥基元), the general manager of engraver, lived in Mukgye (默溪), Andong (安東), and worked in parallel with farming. His father assisted his son in various tasks related to his activities, such as receiving books for publication, delivering finished books, and receiving engraving costs. The number of engravings for the 44 engraver was not fixed, and ranged from as few as 1 st to as many as 50 th editions at the most. Thirteen of them participated in the engraving of various documents of the Jeonju Ryu clan’s Sugokpa (水⾕派) and Andong and surrounding areas. It is estimated that the cost for the publication of the Jeongjaejip was between 2800 and 3800 nyang. In order to cover the money required for publication, publication expenses of 691.5 nyang were shared at 178 places, including seowon and seodang centered on Andong, Sugok school of Jeonju Ryu clan, and private families and individuals from Andong and Yeongnam region.
