이 논문은 카자흐스탄, 키르기스스탄, 타지키스탄, 투르크메니스탄, 우즈베키스탄이라는 중앙아시아 5개국을 고찰하였다. 중앙아시아는 오래전부터 다양한 민족들이 교류하고 각축하는 지역이었다. 이러한 지리적 특성과 다수 주민의 유목민적 특성으로 인하여 복잡한 양상을 가지고 있다. 이 논문은 중앙아시아 5개국을 역사, 인종, 종교의 측면에서 상호중첩적으로 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 중앙아시아의 역사는 크게 선사시대, 아리안 시대, 투르크 이스람 시대, 그리고 근현대로 구분할 수 있다. 인종적으로는 인도-이란계 종족이 먼저 정착하였고, 이후 투르크족이 유입되었다. 이후 13-14세기 몽골의 침략으로 인종적 균형에 급격한 변화가 일어났다. 이들의 민족 정체성은 인종적 차이보다는 서로 다른 정치적 조직체에 속하면서 발전되어 왔다. 종교적으로는 751년 탈라스 전투 이후 이슬람의 본격적인 진출이 이루어졌다. 탈라스 전투에서 당나라 군대를 대파한 아랍 연합군의 승리는, 중앙아시아 지역의 투르크족들의 이슬람화의 결정적 원인이 되었다. 1979년 소련의 아프가니스탄 침략은 중앙아시아 이슬람의 분수령이 되었고, 1970년대 중반 이후에 원리주의가 형성되기 시작하였다.
Abstract
This paper is a documentary research on five Central Asian countries. These five Central Asian countries are Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. This paper considered them in all its bearings. Historically, this regional area was an arena for competition among other stronger nations. Such three factors as history, ethnicity and religion have impacted upon these five Central Asian countries, thus determining each other and interacting with one another both in nation formation and differentiation. The five Central Asian countries are composed of people from varying racial backgrounds. They have a rich infusion of Mongol and Turk blood. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are all descendants of Mongol. Tajikistan was Indo-Europeans by race. They formed their own discrete identity in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Soviet collapse has created a power vacuum within the five Central Asian countries, all of which were muslim. Islam fundamentalism was imported from Arab in 1970s. Since these countries are abundant in natural resources, the competition for natural resources among the powers is growing in intensity.
