Abstract
In pursuit of high-quality economic growth, China has actively promoted Digital Inclusive Finance (DIF) as a key driver for the development of New Quality Productive Forces (NQPF). NQPF represents an advanced form of productive capacity driven by technological innovation, green transformation, and digital empowerment. This study empirically analyzes the impact of DIF on NQPF using panel data from 30 Chinese provinces over the period 2011–2023, addressing a central issue in the country’s high-quality development strategy. A composite NQPF index is constructed, encompassing three dimensions: technological productivity, green productivity, and digital productivity, to measure regional productivity levels. Methodologically, the study employs the Method of Moments Quantile Regression (MM-QR) to capture the distributional heterogeneity of DIF’s effects at different productivity levels. The empirical results indicate that DIF has a significant positive impact on NQPF at all quantiles, wwith the marginal impact of DIF increasing from 0.307 at lower quantiles (25th) to 0.358 at higher quantiles (90th), suggesting that digital finance generates more significant benefits in areas with higher levels of productive capacity. However, regional disparities in NQPF remain, reflecting the uneven development of productivity across provinces. This study emphasizes the importance of enhancing digital financial accessibility in lagging regions to support innovation-driven and sustainable growth, reduce regional productivity gaps, and promote more balanced regional economic development.
