Abstract

Character of learner in the 21st Century is different from others. They are digital native, almost, complex, energetic, technology savvy individual and have expectations of their educator. They also self- respect and believe in themselves. When they desire to learn foreign language, they already have a good reason to learn. Therefore, when they have decided, it is crucial for them to commit. They need teacher to be their good partner for leading them to their studies success. Many of the SEA learners are teenager up to adult learner who have pre- existing knowledge and know how grammar work. They have abilities to memorizing vocabulary. Since teaching theory, teachers learned are theory founded in the 19th or 20th century, we have to reconsider apply for these new generation. However, by the theories found are essential base for other new approach to suit the 21st student. However, these are not only the answer to teach foreign language, especial SEA language. Nowadays many new technologies are new for the novice and experienced teacher. Therefore, everyone can jump in anytime. If teacher consider applying all theories learned by emerging, learning and adapting new technologies into the SEA language classes, it will challenge teaching strategies both teachers and learners. Integrate SEA language learning into daily life will make learners can simply communicate with native speaker, both in and outside the class. Especially if they learn for their better career paths, SEA language abilities are able to make them can approach their idea and communicate with others. Then SEA language teachers are already success on overcoming challenge expectation. “Teaching Strategies and Overcoming Challenges”will work well if SEA teachers begin to make challenge by integrating all teaching strategies learned through “Begin at the End” with the learners of the 21st Century.
