Abstract
This study aimed to obtained preliminary data to arbitrate with customized types for older’s death and dying according to their subjective awareness To adapt Q-method 30 older men who were over 65 year’s old were selected by convenience sampling method. And 9 points of criterions for 37 Q-samples on Q-distribution chart were taken into distributed and the data were gathered. With PC-QUANL program Q-factor was analysed. Following the results, 3 types of subjective recognizing structure for death and dying were revealed as “Fate-receptive type (FRT)”, “Religious-attachment type (RAT)” and “Reality-oriented type (ROT)”. FRT considered that live was good without harming others and accepted death and dying as fate. In addition it was free from suffering. RAT wanted to do many experiences and get a life achieved their wish and then die with family’s love and religious belief for afterlife. The last ROT thought should live hard everyday until dying. And ROT hope to meet their end of life with dignity in dying. These findings would be available to arbitrate for Korean elderly people as preliminary data for well-dying education program.
