통증은 환자들이 의료인에게 가장 많이 호소하는 증상이며, 이는 신체적, 심리사회적, 영적 요소를 포함한다. 본 연구는 Q 방법론을 이용하여, 호스피스 교육을 수강한 간호대학생의 통증의 의미 인식에 대한 주관적 구조를 파악하기 위함이다. 총 35명의 P 표본을 대상으로 30개의 Q 표본을 강제 분포하여 자료수집하고 분석하였다. 연구결과 호스피스교육을 받은 간호대학생의 통증의 의미 인식은 4개의 유형으로 분류되었다. 제1유형은 ‘필요악’으로 통증의 보호적인 순기능에 대해 강하게 인식하고 있었다. 제2유형은 ‘삶의 질 방해꾼’으로 통증으로 인해 당사자와 주변인의 삶의 질 저하에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 제3유형은 ‘고통 촉진자’로 통증으로 인해 고통이 가중되는 부정적인 측면을 강하게 인식하고 있었다. 제4유형은 ‘죽음의 전사’로서 통증이 죽음을 연상하게 하는 것으로 강력하게 인식하고 있었다. 본 연구결과는 간호대학생의 통증의 의미 인식 유형을 토대로 학부과정에서 효과적인 통증교육 프로그램 설계에 유용한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
Pain is the most common symptom for patients to complain to healthcare professionals, including physical, psycho-social, and spiritual factors. This study is to understand the subjective structure of the perception of the meaning of pain of nursing college students who took hospice education using the Q methodology. A total of 35 P samples were forcibly distributed, and data were collected and analyzed. As a result of the study, nursing college students who received hospice education were classified into four types of perception of the meaning of pain. The first type was ‘necessary evil’, and was strongly aware of the protective net function of pain. The second type was recognized as a ‘disrupter of the Quality of Life’, which had a great influence on the quality of life of the parties and family due to pain. The third type was a ‘suffering forwarder’, and it strongly recognized the negative aspects of pain that increased due to pain. The fourth type was a “death warrior” and was strongly recognized as pain reminiscent of death. The results of this study can be used as basic data useful for designing effective pain education programs in the undergraduate program based on the perception of the meaning of pain for nursing students.
