Abstract
At the crime scene, bloody fingerprints are important evidence, and there are a lot of homicide cases using tapes. In this study, we compared the enhancement effect of Amido black, Coomasie blue, Crowle's stain, Acid violet 17 and Hungarian red on faint bloody prints which were deposited on the adhesive sides of five type tapes(duct tape, green tape, transparent tape, yellow tape and insulating tape). Bloody fingerprints were deposited sequentially 10 times and dried for 4 hours. On the duct tape and green tape, Amido black, Coomasie blue and Hungarian red were highly effective and among them, Hungarian red was the best. On the transparent tape, Hungarian red was more effective and on the yellow tape, Amido black and Hungarian red were very effective. Although all reagents were great effective on the insulating tape, Amido black and Hungarian red were the best. In conclusion, Hungarian red was the best enhancement reagent regardless of kinds or color of tapes and we confirmed that Hungarian red dyed only bloody fingerprints not background of tapes.
