Abstract
This study was conducted to collect basic data to estimate Post Mortem Interval of carrion by using a change of insect fauna and decomposition rate of carrion exposed to the sun and shade in Asan. 2 pig carrions were installed in the sun and shade in July, 2015. Decomposition rate of both 2 carrions is 8 days until dry stage(Ⅳ). A carrion in the sun is fast in fresh(Ⅰ) and decay(Ⅲ) stages, and a carrion in the shade is fast in bloated stage(Ⅱ). In addition, the time required of each stage is different. Therefore, decomposition rate of carrion is greatly influenced by environment, and when time of death is estimated, information of surrounding environment is surely needed. Meanwhile, total 182 insects in 20 species, 11 families, 4 orders were collected. The first appearing Calliphoridae among them can be used as an important way to estimate PMI. Both carrions of Calliphorides were collected in 1~5 days of an experiment, and both carrions of Coleoptera were collected in 4~9 days of an experiment, so insect fauna was changed by decomposition of carrions. The number of insects was collected in carrions in the sun more than in the shade, and species of insects were collected in carrions in the shade more than in thw sun, because of accessibility of insects and temperature. Such point means that insects approaching to carrions can be changed by environment of carrions.
