이 연구에서는 생성형 AI를 활용한 독서의 의미 및 특성을 탐구하였다. 생성형 AI는 자연어 처리 모델로, 사용자의 질문에 답변을 제공하며 그 답변의 질이 높아 정보 검색 및 텍스트 작업에 유용하다. 생성형 AI를 활용하여 텍스트를 생성하여 읽는 행위를 이 글에서는 ‘AI 기반 생성적 독서’로 정의한다. 생성적 독서는 AI의 생성 모델을 통해 텍스트를 생성하고 이를 읽는 것을 의미하며, 전통적인 독서와는 다르다. 기존의 독서에서는 독자가 이미 완성된 텍스트를 해석하는 반면, 생성적 독서에서는 독자가 AI와 상호작용하여 자신이 원하는 텍스트를 생성한 후 이를 읽는다. 또한 AI가 텍스트를 생성하는 방식은 기 존재하는 텍스트들을 참조하여 상호텍스트적 관계를 형성함으로써 이루어진다. AI 기반 생성적 독서는 디지털 독서의 연장선에 있으며, 디지털 매체를 활용한 하이퍼텍스트 독서와 유사한 특징을 지닌다. 디지털 독서에서는 독자가 컴퓨터나 스마트 기기 등을 통해 온라인 텍스트를 읽으며, AI 기반 생성적 독서는 ChatGPT 같은 AI를 통해 텍스트를 생성하고 이를 독서하는 방식이다. AI 기반 생성적 독서는 개방적이고 텍스트 생성의 주체가 AI알고리즘이며 정보중심성이 있고 비판적 이해가 중요하다. 결론적으로, AI 기반 생성적 독서는 기존의 디지털 독서 방식과 구별되는 특성을 지니며, 국어교육 등에서 AI를 활용한 새로운 교육 방법론을 모색할 필요가 있다. AI 기술의 발전에 따라 생성적 독서의 양태도 더욱 다양화될 것이고 이에 대한 국어교육계의 관심이 요구된다.
Abstract
This study explores the meaning and characteristics of reading through generative AI, such as ChatGPT. As a natural language processing model, generative AI provides high-quality responses to user inquiries, making it useful for information retrieval and text creation tasks. In this study, the act of generating and reading texts through such AI is defined as "AI-based generative reading." Generative reading involves generating texts through an AI model and then reading them, which differs from traditional reading where readers interpret pre-existing texts. In generative reading, users interact with AI to produce the texts they want to read. The AI generates texts by referencing existing materials and forming intertextual relationships. AI-based generative reading is part of the broader scope of digital reading and shares similarities with hypertext reading, which involves reading online texts through digital devices like computers and smartphones. This type of reading is characterized by its openness, with the AI algorithm acting as the primary agent for text creation. It focuses on extracting information, and critical understanding plays a significant role in this process. In conclusion, AI-based generative reading exhibits distinct characteristics compared to traditional digital reading. There is a growing need to explore new educational methodologies, especially in language education, that incorporate AI. As AI technology continues to evolve, the forms of generative reading will also diversify.
