Abstract
This study explored the replaceability of private institutes by applying physical education cluster curriculum. Total 14 students in 4 high schools operating the physical education curriculum cluster from March, 2022 to December, 2022 were recruited and in-depth interview was conducted. Results indicated that the cluster curriculum has benefits in providing psychological stability, specialized career and admission consulting, changes in perception of attitudes regarding physical education. Whereas peer pressure caused by the ‘bandwagon effect’ negatively affects students, and this is the greatest barrier factor to substitute private education. In conclusion, securing outstanding instructors, understanding preferred learning atmosphere, developing programs linked to the curriculum cluster, and forming teacher community within the cluster are required to maintain and develop, making it possible for the curriculum cluster to substitute private education.
