본 논문에서는 노동소득 분배율이 경기변동에 따라 어떻게 움직이는가를 분석한다. 1970년부터 2010년까지의 자료로 분석한 결과, 한국에서 노동분배율은 경기에 순행하면서 동행하거나 1분기 정도 후행한다. 특히 노동소득 분배율은 호황 후반부에 크게 증가하고, 불황 후반기에 크게 감소한다. 노동분배율이 경기에 순행하는 주된 이유는 경기변동에 따라 임금이나고용량의 조정이 빨리 이루어지기 때문이다. 임금의 조정은 초과노동시간(따라서 초과급여)과 특별급여의 조정을 통해서 이루어진다. 임금이나 고용량의 조정이 느려서 노동분배율이 경기에 역행한다는 이론은 이러한 실증분석 결과와 맞지 않는다.
Abstract
This paper empirically investigates the cyclicality of labor share in Korea. Using the data on 1970-2010, the results show that the labor share in Korea is procyclical or lag by one quarter. Especially, the labor share sharply rises in the last half of expansion and falls in the last half of contraction. The procyclicality of the labor share is due to the fast adjustments of wage and employment. The theories that predict the countercyclicality of labor share is not consistent with these empirical results. The cyclicality of labor share in Korea, however, is very weaken recently.
