중등과정 경제교과서의 교과과정에 대한 비판적 연구

초록

본 연구는 최근 신우파에 의해 국내에서 진행된 중·고교 경제교과서에 대한 논쟁과 미국의 경제교육 교과과정에 대한 논쟁을 비교·검토하여 경제교육의 교과과정이 1) 사회과교육론, 2) 학문분과와 과목교과의 관계, 3) 경제학의 내용에 대한 비판적 재검토라는 세 가지 쟁점을 가지고 있음을 밝히고 있다. 이어서 이 세 가지 쟁점을 하나씩 살펴봄으로써 국내의 경제교육의 교육내용은 단순히 대학에서 강의되는 경제원론의 내용을 답습할 것이 아니라, 학생들의 비판적(반성적 또는 성찰적) 사고를 계발하기 위해 재설계되어야 한다고 주장한다. 이러한 재설계를 위해서 교육내용의 다양성을 인정하고, 시민성을 강조하며 보다 현실적인 주제를 많이 다루어야 한다.

Abstract

Comparing the debates on economics content standards in Korea and U.S., this research finds three issues embedded in the debates: economic education in the relation with social studies education, the relation of economics as academic discipline and economic education as school subject and finally the critical reevaluation of economics contents. In the review of these three issues, this research concludes economic education content standards should be redesigned escaping from the content standards following “Principles of Economics” of college economics. The redesign will focus on diversity of content standards, citizenship and real economic issues to let students have more chances to improve their capabilities of critical (reflective) thinking.
