Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of the relative rank of integrity survey on members of public organizations. Based on the social identity theory, we constructed a hypothesis about integrity investigation, organizational identification, and turnover intention. The integrity survey attracts high social attention and enables objective comparisons between public organizations. The characteristics of this integrity survey demonstrate empirically that the higher the relative rank leads to the more organizational pride that is given to organizational prestige. In addition, the integrity survey shows that there is an empirical effect of lowering the turnover intention through mediating the organization identification. This study utilized two-level hierarchical linear analysis in combination with organization-level objective data and individual-level surveys. This study theoretically shows the applicability of social identity theory in public organization research. Practically, we ask that attention be paid to key indicators that directly affect an organization's reputation, such as an integrity survey that has an unintended effect on its members. This is because it will affect the organizational identification of members of the public organization and mediate the major indicators of the members of the organization.
