Abstract
In the late phase of Japanese colonial rule in Korea, many Korean writers are divided into two groups. One is the group that wants to collaborates with Japan, another is the group that resist to collaborate. Kim Sa-Ryang is one of the writers to resist to Japanese dominance. But the writer who battles with Japanese colonialism is very hard because of intensified Japanese censorship. After the war of Japan and China in 1937, the censorship is intensified because of total war. Kim Sa-Ryang criticizes the assimilation of Japan and Korea by way of negating the writing of work by the Japanese language which is the campaign of Japanese Empire. He also does not accept the change of Japanese name which is the demand of Japanese Empire. Eventually, he resist the assimilation of Japan and korea keeping the korean name and Korean language writing. He represent the character who want to collaborate with Japan in the Chenma which means the horse of heaven. He resists Japanese rule by criticizing that character. But he does not criticize that negative collaborator freely because of censorship. He criticize that phenimena by roundabout way of multi-voicedness of novel.
