초록

본 연구는 공사교육의 위기 속에서 공동체홈스쿨링의 가능성과 유용성을 탐구하고, 우리나라 실정에 적합한 커뮤니티홈스쿨링 모형을 개발하기 위한 기초연구로서 수행되었다. 특히, 학교 밖 청소년과 부모 아동학대 문제를 해결하며 자율적인 교육권을 확보할 수 있는 교육혁신 대안으로 커뮤니티홈스쿨링의 제도적 가능성을 검토하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 개념 검증(Proof of Concept, PoC) 분석을 도입하였으며, 커뮤니티홈스쿨링 경험이 없는 가정들을 대상으로 관찰집단을 구성하고 교육활동을 관찰･검토하며실제적인 실행 가능성을 검증하였다. PoC 분석은 가정 협력, 부모 교사, 자녀 적응이라는 세 가지 목표를 설정하고, 참여도, 이해도, 몰입도, 기여도, 컨디션이라는 다섯 가지지표를 통해 효과성을 평가하였다. 분석 결과, 커뮤니티홈스쿨링은 가정 간 협력과 공동체 지속 가능성, 부모 교사의 역할 수행, 자녀들의 공동체 적응에 있어 높은 만족도와 성취도를 나타냈다. 특히, 부모들은 수업 준비와 진행을 통해 교사로서의 동기부여와 보람을 경험했으며, 자녀들은 연령과 학습 난이도에 관계없이 적응하고 즐겁게 참여하는 모습을 보였다. 결론적으로, 커뮤니티홈스쿨링은 의미 있는 교육혁신 대안으로서 가능성을 확인하였고, 향후 파일럿을 통해 모형을 정교화하고 실효성을 높일 필요가 있다.

Abstract

This study was conducted as a foundational research project to explore the potential and utility of community homeschooling amidst the crisis of public and private education and to develop a community homeschooling model suitable for the realities of South Korea. Specifically, it aimed to examine the institutional feasibility of community homeschooling as an educational innovation to address issues such as school dropouts and child abuse by parents, while securing autonomous educational rights. To achieve this, a Proof of Concept (PoC) analysis was introduced, forming an observation group consisting of families with no prior experience in community homeschooling. Educational activities were observed and reviewed to validate the practical feasibility of its implementation. The PoC analysis focused on three primary objectives: family cooperation, the role of parents as teachers, and children’s adaptation. Effectiveness was evaluated using five key indicators: participation, comprehension, engagement, contribution, and condition. The analysis revealed that community homeschooling demonstrated high levels of satisfaction and achievement in family cooperation, the sustainability of the community, the role of parents as teachers, and children’s adaptation to the community. Parents experienced motivation and a sense of fulfillment as teachers through their preparation and delivery of lessons. Meanwhile, children showed an ability to adapt and actively participate regardless of age differences or varying levels of academic difficulty. In conclusion, it was found to have significant potential as an educational alternative as well as a pilot model for the next step.
