이 연구는 최근 등장한 ‘마을교육공동체’ 사업의 성공적 추진에 기여하려는 목적에서 추진되었다. 연구자는 이사업이 ‘마을교육’을 통해 공교육을 쇄신하고 지역사회 발전을 위한 ‘마을공동체’를 강화한다는 두 가지 의도에서교육청과 지방자치단체의 협력 구조로 추진되고 있음에도 불구하고, 실제 사업이 추진되는 과정에서 ‘마을교육’ 수행에치우쳐 ‘마을공동체’ 차원에서는 이렇다 할 성과를 보이지 못하고 있음에 주목한다. 연구자는 이러한 한계점이 아직명확하게 정립되지 못한 ‘마을공동체’ 개념과 구체적 청사진 부재에서 기인한다고 보고, 마을교육공동체의 가능한한 가지 모델로서 ‘실천공동체’(CoP)가 여러 가지 유용성을 가질 수 있음을 논증한다. 실천공동체로서 마을교육공동체의구축 및 운영 방안을 구체화하여 제시하였으며, 성공적인 사업 추진을 위한 개선 방향도 제시하였다. 비록 이 연구가이론적 차원에서 수행되어 마을의 여러 특수한 상황들을 반영한 구체적 전략 제시에는 이르지 못하였지만, 마을공동체강화라는 현대사회 난제 해소를 위한 본격적 시도로서 의의를 가질 수 있다고 보고, 향후 후속 연구를 통해 더욱진전될 수 있기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This study was conducted with the aim of contributing to the successful promotion of the local government’s recent project ‘village education community’ by proposing a useful concept model for the establishment of a 'village community', noting that the project has not shown any notable achievements in the formation or creation of a village community. To this end, the researcher first analyzed the communal situation of modern urbanized villages and reflecting the results, argued that the 'community of practice' could have many uses as a model for the 'village education community'. And as a practice community, the procedure and methods of creating and operating the village education community could be articulated and support measures from local governments presented. Although this study was carried out on a theoretical level and could not reflect the specific circumstances of the site in detail, it is meaningful in helping to confirm the importance and significance of the project, which has not yet to be properly oriented, and to lead to a new direction of supplementation. The researcher hopes this study will lead to a number of field studies, which will complement the methods and strategies of village community building and operating.
