Abstract
Though the educational and pedagogical effectiveness of Philosophy for Children is fully acknowledged, the main reason why Philosophy for Children succeeded in the areas of philosophy and of education was in positing thinking as its goal and in the implementation of its methodology. The purpose of this article is to clarify the characteristics of thinking and expression in Philosophy for Children. First, this study reveals the concept of thinking in Philosophy for Children, which has been developed for over 30 years, and examines the various thinking skills. Furthermore, it suggests that the expression in Philosophy for Children is embodied as ‘dialogue’. It can be concluded from the above discussion that Philosophy for Children has became a philosophy and pedagogy in our time that successfully implemented the ideas of thought and expression.
