비판적 독서와 비평적 글쓰기를 통한 실천윤리적인 교양 함양 사례 연구

Abstract

In this thesis, we assume that ‘culture’ is not a matter of personal dimension but of relational and sociocultural dimension. Thinking and expression are also made in relation and interaction with others. Under this premise, this study aims to specify the significance of improving students’ thinking and expression ability through literary works in liberal arts education subjects. For this, the study analyzed the actual class cases that performed critical reading and critical writing on literary works. The literary text used in the class as an example in this study is Gong Ji-young’s novel "Crucible" created based on the true story. The narrative device of the novel "Crucible" which is especially noted in this paper is the symbolism of ‘fog’, the character composition similar to the later story of the 80s, and the detailed description of various characters. Through the review of the actual class students about the text, we could find the cognitive and emotional attitude brought by various problem consciousness and reality diagnosis. Students thought about the story world in the text and the real world they experienced. The emotional attitude of the students is expressed by compassion, sadness, anger and helplessness, and most of them showed their willingness to add strength without ending here. This process shows the process of going to Nussbaum’s ‘poetic justice’. Also, criticism of the way the victim is reproduced in the novel text leads to criticism and reflection on the current situation that does not hesitate to commit secondary harm to the victim, and judgment and evaluation of the 80s, which the students could not experience directly, show the way to move toward more sophisticated perception of democracy. It was also possible to see how far the scope of reality recognition through literary texts can go in the liberal arts education subject, facing the critical reading and critical writing at a fairly sophisticated level.
