Abstract
This study aims to find new practical strategies within the model industry by systematically reviewing research related to influencer published in domestic journals from 2020 to 2024, and analyzing trends in influencer research, especially from the perspective of fashion model academia. influencer, which emerged with the spread of SNS, has high reliability and ripple effect through direct communication with consumers and has established itself as a key element of marketing strategy in the fashion industry. However, research on the way fashion models act as influencer and their influence is still incomplete. As a research method, a total of 134 KCI-listed papers that were searched for ‘influencer’ and ‘influencer research’ by the RISS of the Korea Education and Academic Information Service were selected and analyzed for literature. The analysis was conducted by classifying influencer-related research into four categories: category 1. impact on consumer behavior, category 2. law and regulation, category 3. strategy and content, and category 4. virtual influencer. As a result of the study, research on the effect of influencer on consumer behavior was conducted most actively, and it was emphasized that the reliability and expertise of influencer had an important influence on purchase intention. On the other hand, research on legal and ethical issues of influencer marketing was relatively insufficient, suggesting that it is an area that needs to be supplemented in terms of advertising transparency and consumer protection. In addition, a dual reaction was confirmed that consumers’ perceptions of virtual influencer were generally positive, but there was a feeling of rejection due to lack of reality. Through this, the importance of ‘authentic communication’ that only human models can provide was highlighted. This study presents the strategic direction necessary for fashion models to secure competitiveness as a influencer in a digital environment, and is of academic significance in filling the research gap in the model academia. In addition, the possibility of practical and theoretical development was explored by proposing follow-up studies such as empirical expansion of influencer research in the future, comparative studies based on platform characteristics, and global trend analysis.
