Concept of Usury and intolerance against interest: diverse Islamic, scriptural and legal perspectives

무슬림들, 기독교도들, 유대교도들, 법학자들 모두가 고리대금을 금지하는 것에대해서는 이견이 없다. 하지만 그들 모두 금기시되는 고리대금에 면죄부를 주어왔다. 고리대금의 개념 또는 무엇이 고리대금을 정의하는 요소인지에 대한 이견은 존재해왔지만, 성서의 교리에 따르며 윤리적이고 법적으로 용인되는 경제적 활동에있어서 고리대금은 피해야만 할 대상이다. 이슬람에서의 고리대금에 대해 무슬림개혁가들, 근대주의자, 경제학자, 그리고 심지어 전통적인 이슬람 학자들 조차 다양한 의견을 내놓고 있어, 이자를 금지하는 법제도도 제대로 마련되지 못하고 있다. 그 결과, 이슬람에서 이자를 완벽하게 금지하는 것은 명확하게 정해지지 않고 있는문제다. 이자에 대한 비난과 고리대금에 대한 개념을 이해하는 것은 종교와 널리통용되는 규범에 기초한 도덕적 가치를 바탕으로 해야 할 것이다.
