이 글은 大學의 ‘敎養國語’ 운영에 관한 報告書이다. 講義 實態는 質問紙 調査 方法으로 이루어졌다. 질문지 조사 결과에 대한 종합적인 整理는 <부록 1>, <부록 2>에 제시하였다. 조사 결과에 의하면, ‘作文能力의 向上’과 ‘漢字敎育’이 중요한 事案으로 부각되었다. 質問紙에 應答한 學生들은 ‘作文能力 向上’을 원하는 것으로 나타났는데, 이들이 원하는 수준의 講義를 위해서는 制度的 지원이 필요하다. 講師들의 專門性이 확보되어야 하고 글쓰기 과정에 대한 개인별 指導가 뒷받침이 되어야 한다. 이것을 위하여 ‘專任講師制度’와 ‘作文助敎制度’의 導入이 불가피하다. 대학에서의 ‘漢字敎育’도 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 敎授들은 물론 學生들도 이와 같은 주장을 하였는데, 漢字敎育이 專攻 관련 書籍의 讀解에 도움을 주며 知識人을 위한 基礎敎養으로서 혹은 일상 言語生活을 원만하게 營爲하기 위해서도 필요하다는 것이다.
Abstract
Teaching Korean in University : Its Ideal and Its Reality Kim, Young-wook It is a kind of report on teaching Korean in the University of Seoul. I have analysed its reality of language teaching in the university with using two kinds of questionnaires. One is on the mother language teaching and another is on the words borrowed by chinese. Most students want to renovate the faculty of composition and want to learn basic Chinese Characters which used in daily life with high frequency. We need the support of the school office to improve the composition faculty of the students. Most students have a little confidence about one's own ability to write any reports and writings in campus academic studies with Korean language. On the contrary, most students have much interests in improving the ability of writings with mother language. To satisfy the needs of students, we must introduce tutoring system and we must invite lecturers whoes subject are the composition. Individual checking of the writings of students is important to improve the writing faculty of students. More checking the writings of students, more improve the faculty of composition. It needs more than ten times per student in a term. It is important to learn the basic Chinese Characters to read text books. There are many Chinese Characters in the academic books. Any student can not read the books on one's subject without knowing basic Chinese Characters more than 2,500. Chinese Character is more complicate than Hangul. So new generations have a tendency to use Hangul only. For the purpose of academic life in university, we must teach basic Chinese Characters for the students to help reading books on their subjects. I think two hours in a week during a term is enough to teach the basics of Chinese Characters which are requisite to study one's own subject.
