Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the different versions of Daehanmunjeon. The various editions that exist today are : the manuscript, mimeography and typography. As the research shows, we have learned the earlier editions of ‘Dae Han Mun Jeon’ prior to Choi, Gwang-ok's work cannot be considered as individual literary works. Rather, it is to be considered as widely and generally used grammar books aimed at educating the general public. The editions of ‘Daehanmunjeon’ manuscripts and mimeographs that have been published in those days, should be understood to be the work of ‘Ryu, Gil-jun'. His contribution was to refine and elaborate on existing work to re-organize the various editions generally circulated to the public in those days.Consequently, The grammar books published prior to 1909 cannot be considered as the individual literary work of Ryu, Gil-jun. This article found that many aspects of Daehanmunjeon were written under the influence of Japanese grammar. This article examines the influence of Japanese grammar.As a result of this study, we have discovered that Daehanmun- jeon has some foreign elements. However, its more significant role was to introduce and adapt the principles of foreign grammar structures to establish Korean grammar.
