초록
본고는 國語 文章 提示語의 統辭的, 意味的, 話用的 특성을 밝히는 데 그 목적을 둔다. 본고에서 필자가 주장한 바는 다음과 같이 요약된다. 첫째, 文章 提示語란 獨立語 成分인 名詞句 혹은 名詞句 相當語가 아무런 標識 없이 쓰이고 그 뒤에 어떠한 방식으로든 그에 關與的인 敍述이 나올 때, 그 獨立語 名詞句를 가리킨다. 이에 따라 흔히 格助詞 省略으로 다루어진 일부 문장도 文章 提示語가 사용된 구성으로 이해할 수 있다. 둘째, 제시어와 ‘은/는’ 主題語는 모두 限定的인 대상을 가리킨다. 또한 둘 다 舊情報와 新情報 모두를 대상으로 삼을 수 있으나 신정보로서 意味와 韻律의 焦點이 되는 대상은 ‘은/는’ 주제어가 될 수 없다. 셋째, 제시어는 문장의 최상층부, 곧 終結語尾句(FP)에 附加되고 주제어는 動詞句(VP)에 부가된다. 넷째, 국어 제시어의 話用的 機能은 ‘注意 集中’으로 요약할 수 있다.
Abstract
In this paper, I aim at explaining syntactic, semantic, pragmatic characteristics of the Korean sentential theme. What I argue can be summarized as follows. Firstly, when an noun phrase(NP) or a quasi-NP as an independent constituent is used at the first position of a sentence without any (case) marker and the relevant predication follows the NP or the quasi-NP, sentential theme is defined as the NP or the quasi-NP. Thereby, we interpret the sentences in which the case marker of the first NP(or quasi-NP) lacks as the sentences of a sentential theme. Secondly, we can indicate a definite object by both theme and ‘eun/neun’ topic. In addition, we can indicate both an old information and a new information by the two, but cannot use ‘eun/neun’ topic for the object of a semantic and prosodic focus though even in case that it encodes a new information. Thirdly, the sentential theme is adjuncted at the top of sentence, that is final ending phrase(FP), and ‘eun/neun’ topic is adjuncted at VP. Fourthly, the function of Korean sentential theme is ‘evoking concentration’ in a word.
