司譯院 倭學書에 나타난 音韻變化의 過程과 特性 －口蓋音化와 圓脣母音化 現象의 擴散 過程을 중심으로－

사역원에서 간행된 倭學書인 「捷解新語」(1676), 「改修捷解新語」(1748), 「重刊捷解新語」(1780), 「倭語類解」(1780년대), 「隣語大方」(1790)의 口蓋音化 例들은 각각 0.85%, 71.15%, 76.29%, 61.87%, 99.38%의 頻度로, ‘ㅡ>ㅜ’ 變化 例들은 각각 3.96%, 57.29%, 75.95%, 75.54%, 94.81%의 頻度로 나타났다. 이러한 빈도를 시간의 축선상에서 이으면 「改修捷解新語」에서 급격하게 확산된 후 일반화되는 S자 곡선이 만들어진다. 이 곡선은, 현대 서구의 社會階層에 따른 言語 變異形 使用의 共時的 分布 曲線과 유사다. 왜학서의 음운변화와 사회계층에 따른 변이형 사용에서 드러나는 이러한 S字 曲線의 類似性은, 國語 音韻變化의 通時的 展開를 共時的 變異形 使用에 대한 社會言語學的 觀點에서 說明할 수 있는 가능성을 열어준다. 그러므로 同質的인 國語史 文獻을 대상으로 音韻變化의 過程을 검토하면 國語 音韻變化의 普遍性과 特殊性을 밝힐 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
From the Japanese textbooks published in Sayeokweon(司譯院, The Bureau of Official Interpreters), such as 「Cheophaesineo」(捷解新語, 1676), 「the 1st reversion of Cheophaesineo」(改修捷解新語, 1748), 「the 2nd reversion of Cheophaesineo」(重刊捷解新語, 1780), 「Waeeoyuhae」(倭語類解, 1780?), 「Ineodaebang」(隣語大方, 1790), the frequency of palatalization are as follows, 0.85%, 71.15%, 76.29%, 61.87%, 99.38%, and the change of ‘i>u’ are as follows, 3.96%, 57.29%, 75.95%, 75.54%, 94.81% in each book. These phenomena expanded dramatically from 「the 1st reversion of Cheophaesineo」 and they are generalized thereafter. The pattern of these changes is very similar to S-curve that visualizes the frequency of variations that are used from Middle class to Low class. Therefore this feature of this S-curve, that is to say, the process of the lexical diffusion of the Korean sound changes can be explained by the sociolinguistic perspectives, considering social factors of the literatures surveyed. In this point of view, the research of the Korean phonological changes should be done in such a way that it can reveal both the universality and particularity of the language changes.
