한글본 『三官記』에 대하여

Abstract

The present study examines the bibliographical characteristics of the variant copies of the Korean (Han’geul) version of A Record of Matters Per- ceived through Three Organs (Samgwan-gi) and explores the relationships among these variant copies by comparing them. As variant copies of the native Korean version, the four manuscripts of the Dongguk University copy, National Library of Korea copy (henceforth “NLK copy”), Sogang Uni- versity copy, and Kyujanggak copy are extant. Although the contents extracted and translated from the original classical Chinese version are generally similar, the addition at the end of new stories not present in the classical Chinese version differs according to the variant copy. The Sogang University copy was inferred to have been copied in 1841 based on the transcription record attached to each fascicle and the linguistic characteristics. The transcription year of the Kyujanggak copy was seen as some time during the reign of King Cheoljong (1849-1863). While the Dong- guk University copy and the NLK copy do not record the translators or the time of transcription, judging from tendencies in the notation, the former seems to predate the latter. In terms of the contents, the Dongguk University copy and the NLK copy can be grouped together. Although the Sogang University copy and the Kyujanggak copy can be seen as similar, due to certain differences in the translation, the relationship between the two is not as close as that between the Dongguk University copy and the NLK copy.
