본고는 18세기 후반의 문인 학자로 저명한 薑山 李書九의 초기 문학론과 학문적 경향에 대한 검토이다. 본고는 새로운 자료를 바탕으로 논의를 진행하였는데, 그것은 먼저 李書九가 20대 초반에 지은 산문 작품 17편을 모은 작품집 自問是何人言의 발굴에 대한 논의였으며, 아울러 여러 곳에 산재되어 있는 그의 簡札들을 정리는 것이었다. 自問是何人言에 실린 17편의 글 대부분은 이서구의 문집인 齋集에는 누락되어 있기 때문에, 작가로서 가장 정채 있는 활동을 했던 그의 초기 작품의 양상과 문학론을 새롭게 파악할 수 있는 자료가 된다. 이 작품집을 통해서 이서구와 연암 및 이덕무와의 긴밀한 관계가 보다 소상하게 확인하였고, 이들과 상통하는 문학론을 갖고 있었다는 것, 그리고 이와 관련하여 학문적으로는 文字와 字學에 대해서 지속적 관심을 갖고 있었다는 것을 확인하였다.
Abstract
Study on Lee Seo-gu's View of Literature and the Tendency of Learning Kim, Yun-jo This thesis is the study on the view of literature of Lee Seo-gu who was a famous writer in the latter of the Chosun Dynasty. He had been already a well-known literary man in his early twenties. But there isn't his early prose writings in his anthology which was handed on to this time. This work is a study on his early view of literature about his writings and letters belonged to his new prose collection which was not known up to present time. The result was that he appreciated the value of his days' literature not the literature of antiquity which had been generally recognized good and thought much of the natural expression of not-fabricated sincere feeling.
